Neither Confirm Nor Deny

On this beautiful eve of the day we celebrate mothers, I played outside in the backyard with my kids.

I can neither confirm nor deny that after I talked my oldest in to ambushing my husband with water guns.

I can neither confirm nor deny that when he retaliated with the water hose, I used the baby as a shield.

I can neither confirm nor deny that when we started playing with sidewalk chalk, I got so engrossed drawing a shop window that my middle completely covered her necked body in chalk coloring.

Tomorrow as you celebrate the general greatness of mother’s, just remember that I’m sitting here quietly waiting for my Mother of the Year award.

No?

Oh well, I’ll settle for hugs and kisses and maybe just a small piece (okay, a huge chunk) of dark chocolate.
