Summer in Reveiw

Summer in Reveiw

Alternately Titled: In Which I don’t Talk About Puke

Evidently I’m a terrible summer blogger. I’ll blame it on pregnancy because that’s what I blame EVERYTHING on, it’s pretty much the world’s easiest scapegoat. So anyways here is our summer in iPhone pictures (taken by me, so you know they are going to be, well, Awesome) (Did you catch the sarcasm in that last sentence) (Good, cause that’s always hard to get across online)

May:

Lots of pool time!

June:

We headed to a family reunion while daddy was up in the mountains!

Farmer's Market in the Hill Country

And Lily went to her first Texas Ranger’s game

She's ready to play!

This would be the trip where my mother and I had more than one conversation that went something like this:

Me: I have such a bad headache, I just can’t kick it.

Boo: Are you pregnant?

Me: No, Absolutely not. Not possible

or this:

Me: Ugh, I just don’t feel good and on top of that I’m breaking out.

Boo: Are you pregnant?

Me: No. Definately not.

Bahahahahahahahahahaha. I got home from that trip at 10:00 PM on a Monday night and knew I was pregnant by 11:00PM that night.

July

Little brother got married!

This was the bridal luncheon…we love some girly time!

Russ and I in the Grove

In case you were wondering what Lily did at the wedding…

She missed the whole party!!!

Wedding #2

Clearly, she didn’t miss this party!

August:

Yardwork!

She waves and gets excited EVERYTIME he passes by, and our yard isn’t small, so that’s a LOT!

Water falling from the sky. What's that called again?

And one time it rained. Everybody in town went outside to play in it and take pictures. I didn’t want to be left out.

The end.

Splashing Around

Splashing Around

We kicked off the Bug’s first Memorial Day Weekend in proper fashion…by suiting her up and dumping her in a very cold pool all weekend.

She LOVED it. Not even that picture can do justice to the joy elicited by two feet of water in our backyard. And honestly we loved it too! We took about million pictures and videos and then hopped in to play with her and lay out!

God was so good to give us a respite from the howling wind on Saturday and Sunday morning so at least we had some playtime that did not involve grinding dirt in our teeth. Which also doesn’t seem to bother Lilybug, probably because she doesn’t have teeth.

Also we had FOG on Saturday morning. I cried I was so happy. It’s been so long since I even saw a cloud much less smelled moisture that I darn near hit my knees in the middle of the street to praise GOD, but then I realized sitting down in the middle of the street in fog was probably not the best idea so I just kept one hand on the stroller and lifted the other!

Also, this…

is what it looks like at the end of our street today despite the predictions of some very hopeful meteorologist. I certainly hope I’m wrong, but that doesn’t exactly scream “Rain this afternoon” to me.  But who knows what those mini-clouds could turn into right?

On a more serious note PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pray for rain for the Texas Panhandle. The last time we had a measurable amount of moisture was BEFORE the Bug was born. Combine that with extremely hot windy conditions and we are one big wildfire waiting to happen. Last report we lost nine more homes in Amarillo this weekend due to fire. Pray that God would open the sky for us!

Rain Rain…

Rain Rain…

So I know I have a serious problem with whining about the weather too much. I’m working on it, but I have to share this with you because I dreamed about rain. Which wouldn’t be that big of a deal but I NEVER remember my dreams so it must be important.

I’m sure I dreamed about rain because someone in the Panhandle got some rain. I don’t know anyone who did, and I don’t know where exactly it happened, but that’s what they are telling me on the news. Also I saw a cloud yesterday and I felt moisture this morning. So there is hope that this….

and this…

Will stop happening for awhile.

I have a very complicated relationship with the weather. I love warm, but not the warm, bright sunny thing all the time. I LOVE me a hot, cloudy, rainy day. It seems like that should happen in the Texas Panhandle, but it doesn’t.  On the off chance that it does rain here the temperature drops 20 degrees, what a waste of potential.  Which I’m pretty sure means I was meant to live in a jungle, however no matter how much I try to convince Hubs to go along with this he just doesn’t feel Led…

Yet ;)

Prayers for Fire Victims

Prayers for Fire Victims

For the few of you who read this that aren’t related to me or live within a 45 mile radius I just wanted to let you know what has been going on around here and ask for your prayers.

We have had some pretty big grass fires get our of control in about 5 counties. Fortunately for me this county was not one of them, however many friends and families have been deeply affected. Many of my relatives had to evacuate their homes yesterday and many other acquaintances lost their homes in the fires. Last I heard 44 homes have burned, 1 Business, and 11 lives have been lost.

So I ask you to join me in praying to Jesus for respite from the wind. While today has given us a little break tomorrow will once again be bad and put the area at risk for even more fires. I also ask that you pray with me for comfort and healing for those who have lost people and homes to the fires and strength for those still out fighting them, including my step-dad and step-brother. God is merciful and HE will comfort those who seek His peace!

Staycation!

Staycation!

To take a break from our oh-so-taxing life right now Russ and I decided on a little staycation in Amarillo!

100_2266When Russ started wearing jewlery and acting ghetto, I knew it was time to get out of the house!!!

So we packed up and headed east!

100_2273

So we headed out to the ballpark first…to watch the Amarillo Dillas!!

What we really watched was the fieldworkers try to dry up the field for two hours…however we busied ourselves just fine…

100_2268

By eating lots and lots of junk food!!!

Can I get a big ‘ol fat cheer for ballpark chilli dogs!!!!

Next we went to the discovery center…We discovered a lot!!!

100_2310100_2285100_2307

100_2290100_2305100_2302

Then we went out to an amazing dinner at Macaroni Joe’s. Which I meant to get the waiter to take a picture of us, but I was too busy chowing down on crab dip.

Please just imagine an adorable little restaurant with the facade of an Italian street in the back and a very happy and hungry couple smiling at the table!

Next on the agenda a trip out to Palo Duro (pala dura) Canyon to see TEXAS!!!!!

100_2320However….Do you see those scary looking clouds in the back?!?!?!

100_2319Except for a quick trip to the bathroom we never made it past the parking lot!!! They canceled the show and we watched a raging storm blow over the canyon from the comfort of our car! (Don’t worry, we got a rain check!)

Then we came home…

The End

(Do I get a cookie or something for actually remembering to take pictures and then actually posting said pictures to blog?!?!)

Emotion

Emotion

I think I saw it in a movie once where a girl said that her favorite emotion was smiling through tears. Right now I would have to agree.

You know that moment…like the one in Steel Magnolias when you cry like a baby at Shelby’s funeral and then laugh like a lunatic when Clarie tells her to hit Weezer!

So I cried when I told Russ goodbye today and it was really hard. After he got in his car I signed ‘I love you’ to him and he signed it back. Thats when the smiles came, I couldn’t help but laugh because his pinkie and thumb where all big and bandaged up from his burn!

Well I’m gonna go call my mom to say goodbye. Bring on the tears!

Elephants

Elephants

I got to go to the fabulous Ft. Worth Zoo today! It was so much fun and I got to see my favorite animal…an elephant. All the animals were really cool!

I should resist the temptation to say this however I must tell you that Russ’s facination with the monkeys seemed appropriate seeing as how they behaved just like he does!!!!

Next time you hear from me I will be on a different continent!!!!

Please pray for travel mercy for me tomorrow!

Reata

Reata

Wow. We are super tourists!

Now for the poor souls that have traveled with me you know that I’m big on the seeing everything!

Yesterday morning we went to the Ol’ South Pancake house, went to the Botanical Gardens, and then I got my fabulous date!

We got to go to Reata’s in Ft. Worth and eat up on the roof. Now I love downtown areas in genral, but Sundance Square in Ft. Worth is very very high up on the list. It’s clean, people are so nice, no one is pretentious, and they have fabulous shopping.

As usual, however, my focus was the food. And the food was awesome! This resteraunt definately goes down on the list of one of my favorites! Russ and I had so much fun eating and walking through downtown, it was definate a great way to spend one of my last days in Texas.

Then I had one more panic attack for the week (who says I’m a drama queen?!?!) I didn’t have my mentholatum last night and I knew I couldn’t go another night without it. So Brian, Russ, and I loaded up in the car to go down to CVS…where they don’t carry mentholatum. So then we made the trek down to Walgreens.

Now this Walgreens was right next to a…and no I’m not kidding…Rent-a-tire. Can anyone explain this to me?

Finally I got my mentholatum and got tucked in with a smile on my face!

One more day in Ft. Worth and I get to go to the ZOO!!!!!

On the Road Again

On the Road Again

Oh where do I even begin…

Yesterday was definately an eventful day! We drove to Ft. Worth for the last leg of my Texas tour and I was sick to my tummy the whole time. No bueno.

We got to Brian and Autumn’s (Russ’s brother and sister-in-law) house and played with his neice Elizabeth for the afternoon. She is absolutely adorable. That’s when things got a little shaken up.

Russ decided to be a good little brother and help put in a water heater. Autumn, Elizabeth, and I were sitting in the living room when the electricity flashed.

Utter panic.

Autumn jumped up with her super fast mommy reflexes to check on Russ. Really. She was like lightning.

She called his name three times and he didn’t answer. I was ablsolutely freaking out, however in a rare moment of level-headedness I stayed in the living room to play with Elizabeth so she wouldn’t panic (practice for what I’m getting myself into.)

It turns out that he had burned his hand pretty badly, but he didn’t get shocked or hurt worse. Praise the Lord!!!

Needless to say he got appropriately scolded later for not promptly answering to let us know he was okay. (He says he was in shock, but even with sever injuries how dare he worry me like that; I mean really!)

On a good note he is feeling much better today and we went out for breakfast and cofee. Later we are taking Elizabeth to the Botanical Gardens and then we are going out on a date in Downtown Ft. Worth (Oh Yeah)

Chocolate

Chocolate

After three long hard days of mowing two really fabulous things happened:

1. I got paid.

2. I got biscuits and chocolate gravy

Now I know that it sounds gross, but I don’t even like chocolate and I love daddy’s chocolate gravy! It’s just a chocolate sauce to go on biscuits and it reminds me of every special occasion, family gathering, or some times just a Sunday.

Biscuits and chocolate gravy is my comfort food and quite frankly I needed it, because today was the last time I will see my Dad and Cindy for 10 months. I’m still excited, but I think that was my first reality check about actually leaving the country.

Back in Miami tonight. Headed to Ft. Worth tomorrow…Please keep Russ and I in your thoughts and prayers!
